Famara Beach

Famara Bay is starting directly when you walk out of Caleta de Famara. It is a approx. 4 km long, wonderful white sandy beach where no hotels and holiday complexes disturb the nature. This bay is one of the most beautiful of whole Lanzarote.

Sports

Windsurfing and Surf Riding
Due to the prevalent northeast trade wind which sometimes might be blowing strongly Famara is a very popular place as well for windsurfers and surf riders. In Caleta de Famara there are schools for both sports where you can as well rent boards and material.

Hang Gliding and Paragliding
Near by there is a starting place for hang gliders and paragliders. If you are well trained you can fly by west wind along the whole Risco massif and either land on the beach or on the landing place more south.

Holiday on the Beach

But as well if you are just a fan of having romantic walks or bathing in the sun, Famara Beach which is approx. 150m broad, will be a wonderful site for you. Only with swimming you have to be careful because at times there are dangerous undercurrents. This will then be indicated by red flags on the beach and it is then strictly forbidden to go into the water.

In the northern part of the beach some people like to practise naturism. It is not an official place for that, but you can do so if you are not overdoing. Lots of small rocky niches invite you to sunbathe naked and as the beach is never ever overcrowded it will not really disturb anybody.
