Caleta de FamaraThe small fishing village Caleta de Famara, which is situated directly at the Famara Beach most probably has preserved its historical flair more then any other village of Lanzarote. Walking along the dirt roads one can really still imagine how the old villages of Lanzarotes, the pueblos have been like formerly. Of course, here, too, are new buildings - and as such as well apartments for tourists are to be rented, but these are still few and up to now they almost didn`t change the character of the village. Nowadays you will find besides the supermarket some restaurants and bars which invite you to stay and enjoy your afternoon or simply sit in a nice village atmosphere in the evening hours. TeguiseCaleta de Famara belongs to the commune of Teguise. To visit the market on Sundays you have to drive approx. 15 minutes. (car hire: rent-a-car.charcodelpalo.com brings you the car directly to your apartment). Teguise is the old capital of Lanzarote and independently of the Sundays market it is worth seeing. Risco de FamaraRight from the beach you see the upraising Risco de Famara, up to 672m high. In the midst of this massif you will realize a very old path leading from Teguise to the saltworks underneath of Mirador del Rio. People in former times have been ferrying from there to the island of La Graciosa, all the time in sight of Famara. If you are a trained hiker, this will be a bit of a challenge to you, and you certainly will get to know a different view of Lanzarote. Here you will find a short description (in german) of the path. |
